Florida’s Wrongful Conduct Doctrine Bars Claims Against Pfizer in Zoloft, Xanax Case

ATLANTA — A man who says his ingestion of Zoloft and Xanax led him to kill his wife and children is barred from proceeding with his claims against Pfizer by Florida’s wrongful conduct doctrine, a federal appeals court has affirmed.
In a July 2 ruling, the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals explained that the plaintiff’s claims are based on harms to himself resulting from his own criminal conduct and, as such, should be dismissed pursuant to the doctrine.
