SAN FRANCISCO —Yahoo is experimenting with running search results and search ads from Google as well as other search engines.

Yahoo search was exclusively powered by Microsoft's Bing, but the two companies revised their search deal in April. That gives Yahoo greater discretion in using its own search technology or the technology of other companies.

"As we work to create the absolute best experiences for Yahoo users, from time to time, we run small tests with a variety of partners including search providers. There is nothing further to share at this time," Yahoo said in an emailed statement.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is a former Google executive who oversaw search products early in her career at the search giant. Google handles most search inquiries around the world.

"Yahoo is currently testing search results and ads from a number of partners, including Google as one of their options," In Google said in an emailed statement.

SEO Boo's Aaron Wall was the first to notice the tests. His service helps companies improve their rankings in search results.
