According to several media outlets,
Alcatel Lucent SA (ADR)ALU
has landed a major 4G contract with
China Telecom Corporation Limited (ADR)CHA
. The France-based company will now be one of the Chinese operator's top three suppliers of the high-speed mobile broadband access technology, along with
Huawei
and
Nokia Corporation (ADR)NOK
.

Tuesday afternoon, JPMorgan's Rod Hall provided some comments on the issue, which he believes will have a slight-positive impact on Alcatel Lucent and a neutral impact on Nokia. The analyst said:

Alcatel Lucent "has been named by China Telecom as one of its top three suppliers for the rollout of LTE across China.

"China Telecom is preparing to expand LTE services in both new and existing regions of China, following the award of full FDD-LTE licenses by the Chinese Government, an expansion that will address exploding demand for high-performance data and video content.

"Under the contract, ALU will supply its 9926 eNodeB RAN portfolio and services during H1'15. (ALU)."
