Northrop wins $62.2M contract for IRS infrastructure

Northrop Grumman has officially announced that it has won a $62.2 million task order to support the IRS in building and delivering an integrated and shared IRS infrastructure.

The official announcement is noteworthy because the contract is one that Northrop had to battle through a couple of protest rounds with the incumbent, Computer Sciences Corp., before finally getting the go ahead to proceed with the work.

This task order was awarded under the Treasury Department's Total Information Processing Support Services 4 (TIPPS-4) contract.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will provide IT professional services and subject matter expertise in the areas of architecture, engineering and development services. The contract is part of the IRS Infrastructure Shared Services program. 

Northrop Grumman is leading a team made up of Strategic Technology Partners, JayTech Corp., APEX Systems, TEKSystems and ManpowerGroup Public Sector, the company said in a release.
