PepsiCo Inc. President Zein Abdalla, who’d been considered a contender to succeed Chief Executive Officer Indra Nooyi, will retire at the end of the year.

The world’s largest snack maker and second-biggest beverage maker didn’t give a reason for the departure, which was disclosed in a regulatory filing yesterday.
