Ex -Hearts of Oak Board Member Stephen Akwetey has presented football equipment worth thousands of Cedis to the leadership of Ga-Adangme youth in a ceremony at Osu, an Accra suburb, a few days ago.

The presentation of the items, which included sets of quality jerseys and footballs, according to the donor, was to empower the youth in the Ga community.

He revealed that the items would later be handed to the Osu Hope for Future football team, with the aim of taking football talented individuals out of the streets.

Mr. Akwetey stated that several items and efforts would be provided to assist the Ga Youth in development across all sectors.

He added that donations must not only be done on festive occasions, but leaders must inculcate the habit of providing assistance from time to time to members of their communities.

'Don't use the items only on festive occasions. I urge the youth to meet on regular basis to engage in football activities. I believe that will help discover more football talents,' Mr. Akwetey said.

Leader of the Ga-Adangme Youth, Nii Ayaafio Tetteh  commended  Mr. Akwetey for his continued support for  Ga youth saying,  ' Mr. Akwetey has supported the Ga youth tremendously,  the recent donations would  certainly go a long way to take our football activities to greater heights.'

He also called on other leaders to emulate Mr. Akwetey's shining example and empower the youth to become responsible people in society.

The Ga Adangme youth, in return honoured Mr. Akwetey with a beautiful plaque, a Kente cloth for his several contributions over the years towards the development of the Ga community.

He was presented with a citation and the title 'Youth Developmental Chief' for his efforts.
