Financiers make Super Bowl picks

Bank on this. Opinions vary on which team wins Sunday's Super Bowl, but I thought I would ask a few people in the banking industry for their predictions.

"I've always pulled for (New England's) Tom Brady, who, to me, he is the best quarterback ever, so I'm going with New England, 38-27 ... if the footballs are deflated." Bill White, First Tennessee Bank, president, Jackson region.

"I'm pulling for the Patriots … maybe by a touchdown. I just think it's Tom Brady's time to put a cap on a great career, and I like (New England coach Bill) Belichick. He is just old-school, and I like the way they do business. Of course, last year, I thought the Broncos would beat the Seahawks, so I'm picking with my heart. New England, 23-17." Wayne Minton, president/CEO The Bank of Milan president.

"I watch the (Tennessee) Titans, but I watch football passively. If you want to talk about how the Union University Lady Bulldogs will do against Delta State, I may have an opinion. I don't know, but let's say 35-27, Seattle wins." Gary Grisham, chairman/CEO The Bank of Jackson.

"I can't say the Titans, so I'm going to go with Seattle 27-20. Seven points deducted from New England's score for cheating." Ed Woodside, chairman, First South Bank, Jackson.

"With 17 fields, that calls for 34 umpires," Terry Moore said. "We try to have 68 (available), because not everybody likes to be at the park all weekend long, and that will be thoroughly covered in the meeting."
