American Capital Agency Reports Q2 Comprehensive EPS Of $2.43

American Capital Agency Corp. (AGNC) reported that its second-quarter net income to shareholders decreased to $27 million or $0.08 per share, from $1.83 billion or $4.61 per share, last year.

Comprehensive income available to shareholders was $857 million or $2.43 per share, compared to a loss of $939 million or $2.37 per share, a year ago. The second-quarter comprehensive income was driven primarily by unrealized gains on agency securities.

Net interest income was $290 million, compared to $414 million, last year. For the second quarter, the company recorded a loss of $222 million in other loss, net, or $0.63 per share.
