EAST BRUNSWICK – Police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed an unknown amount of cash and two packs of cigarettes at knifepoint from workers at Route 18 gas station Feb. 21.

Around 2:15 p.m., police responded to the Sunoco gas station, Route 18 North just north of Rues Lane for a report of an armed robbery.

A gas-station employee told police that a man had entered the office area of the interior kiosk, displayed a large knife and demanded money. The robber took an unknown amount of money and packs of Newport cigarettes. The man then left the kiosk and slashed the tires of two customers’ vehicles.

Police said the man fled in a flatbed tow truck traveling north on Route 18.

The suspect is described as a man in his late 30s or early 40s about 5 feet 7 to 6-feet tall with a medium build, wearing a black jacket, dark jeans, construction boots and a black skull cap.

Police said the vehicle he fled in is a flatbed tow truck with a dark or black cap with a “flat” front. The flatbed did not have any vehicles on it. No identifying information was observed by the witnesses.

Anyone with information about the identity of the man or the robbery is asked to contact East Brunswick Detective John Breen at 732-390-6990.
