BlackBerry, Monro Muffler, Valeant In Thursday's After-Hours Movers

Monro Muffler Brake Inc. MNRO recouped some of its earlier losses, rising 6 percent after the bell to $62.74. The retail auto repair company closed down nearly 6 percent earlier after missing quarterly expectations.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. VRX picked up 5 percent in the late session, trading at $245 a share. The company, which closed up 4.8 percent, is in talks to acquire the Egyptian drugmaker Amoun Pharmaceutical Co., according to a report Wednesday by Bloomberg.

McDermott International MDR gained 5.4 percent to $5.04 in the extended session. The oil and gas engineering and construction company closed up 3 percent as oil prices rose slightly Thursday.

AVEO Pharmaceuticals Inc. AVEO extended its earlier gains during Thursday's after-hours session, ticking up more than 5 percent to $2.35 a share. The oncology company, which closed up 39 percent, disclosed results on Wednesday of a study and favorable comments by regulators concerning its proposed treatment for renal cancer.

BlackBerry Ltd. BBRY rose about 2 percent after the bell to $10.45. BlackBerry said it will buy back and cancel 2.6 percent of its public float.

Aeropostale Inc. ARO flew down 18 percent to $2.12 a share after the bell, when the retailer posted a first-quarter same-store sales decline of 11 percent and predicted a second-quarter loss of between $0.52 cents and $0.60 cents a share.

Otonomy Inc. OTIC declined more than 17 percent to $25.21 in late trading Thursday. The drug company said its vertigo treatment failed a mid-stage trial.

Brocade Communications Systems Inc. BRCD dropped nearly 3 percent to $11.80 after the bell when the company posted revenue below expectations.

Marvell Technology Group Ltd. MRVL dipped about 2.6 percent to $14. The company missed quarterly revenue expectations and said its chief financial officer will retire effective Friday.

Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. SFM ticked down 1.3 percent to about $29.90. The food retailer hasn't issued recent news.
