Madison Bumgarner’s World Series MVP prize was recalled earlier this month

Madison-Bumgarner-truck

San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner cemented his place in history as one of the greatest World Series pitchers of all time with five shutout relief innings in Game 7. Bumgarner was an easy choice for World Series MVP, and all he had to show for winning the award was a stinkin’ truck that was recalled earlier this month.

We already saw how hilarious the guy was who presented Bumgarner with the truck, but there’s even more to the story that makes it great.

As Sports Illustrated noted, General Motors ordered dealerships to stop selling certain cars at the beginning of October due to faulty wiring that could “cause the driver airbags to not function as designed.” One of the models was the Chevy Colorado, which is the sleek looking truck that was given to Bumgarner.

Since the problem was discovered roughly a month ago, you have to assume General Motors has addressed the issue. I highly doubt Bumgarner needs to take his new truck to a dealership to have the computer reprogrammed.

But it would definitely be funny if he did. Imagine a guy who is 5-0 in his World Series career with a 0.25 ERA strolling into a car dealership with one of those annoying recall notices he got in the mail? That would be awesome.
