Queenstown's Million Dollar Cruise has been recognised by New Zealand Tourism, and become licensed to carry the Qualmark.

The endorsement, New Zealand Tourism's official mark of quality, was given to the Million Dollar Cruise as part of a programme, which offers quality assurance to a full range of tourism businesses, including adventure activities, culture and nature experiences.

The programme is designed to identify professional and trustworthy operators, enabling international and domestic visitors to book and buy tourism experiences with confidence.

Million Dollar Cruise owners Wayne and Betty Perkins said the endorsement was important for locals and visitors.

"It's a pretty rigorous process that puts real focus on the service and systems we have in place.

"The endorsement reassures potential visitors that we're good operators and that we're going to look after them.

"We think it's important that visitors have these official and independent benchmarks to refer to when they're making decisions about how to spend their time and money."

Mrs Perkins said gaining the Qualmark endorsement enabled the couple to attend the Trenz Conference in Auckland representing their business.

"The demand for new, environmentally-sensitive products like Million Dollar Cruise was overwhelming, with responses from Europe, Asia, North America, Australia and New Zealand," she said.
