WWE Divas: Brock Lesnar Vs. Stephanie McMahon Happened, Why Can’t AJ Lee And Paige Wrestle Men?

In the PG era, Brock Lesnar may be billed as that unbeatable monster, but it wasn’t too long ago that Stephanie McMahon was firmly planting her knee between his legs. Nowadays, fans feel like WWE Divas like AJ Lee, Paige, and others are being held back by the management decisions of Vince McMahon and Triple H. The Twitter hashtag #GiveDivasAChance trended hard, making this point loud and clear. But should the WWE Divas wrestle men, giving these women a chance to show how they match up to the male WWE superstars?

In a related report by the Inquisitr, the WWE management has apparently responded to the “give Divas a chance” movement by scheduling a WWE Divas tag team match for WrestleMania 31.

When WWE Diva AJ Lee called out Stephanie McMahon, it seemed like she might follow in CM Punk’s footsteps by publicly criticizing the company.

“Your female wrestlers have record selling merchandise & have starred in the highest rated segment of the show several times, and yet they receive a fraction of the wages and screen time of the majority of the male roster.”

According to Cageside Seats, WWE Diva Paige joined AJ Lee and WWE Total Divas star Brie Bella to openly discuss what the WWE Divas should or should not be allowed to do in the ring.

“If we get given the time (on the main roster)… a lot of us could be better than the guys, I feel like, if we get given the time. The guys get all the time to showcase what they can do. So, of course people say ‘the guys are better than the girls.’ We do a couple minutes and that’s it. We don’t really get to showcase what we do.”

Although Paige did not bring it up, one way management could give the WWE Divas a chance is to allow them to wrestle men once again. After all, in the modern era, it’s practically unheard of to see a WWE Divas vs. men match.

This wasn’t always the case. During the late 1990s and the early 2000s, female wrestlers like Chyna and Trish Stratus were pushing the boundaries. Then you have others like Sara Callaway, Maria, Victoria, Jazz, Molly Holly, Jacqueline, Lita, and Beth Phoenix who took on various WWE Superstars. Yet fans are supposed to believe it’s an issue of domestic violence issues and political correctness?

Stratus once indicated the only way the girls can take their show up a notch is by wrestling with the men.

“I got to get in the ring with The Rock and Kurt Angle… Big Show tossed me over the top ropes,” Stratus recalled. “Certainly, those things all resonate with the fans.”

Believe it or not, Brock Lesnar vs. Stephanie McMahon actually happened once upon a time, and this video proves it.

It’s also not like the WWE won’t allow women to take on men in recent years. Kharma’s surprise entry in the 2012 Royal Rumble was a shocker, not only because she was the third WWE Diva to enter the Rumble, but also because she was the only Diva to both execute a finisher during the match in addition to being the only woman to exclusively wrestle men.

Despite being the target of Kharma’s implant buster, Dolph Ziggler also made it quite clear at one time that he’d be fine with climbing into the ring with the ladies.

“It would be incredible. If this was a different day and age where the Divas were allowed to step into the ring with the Superstars,” Ziggler said. “Man, I would find a way to make that so entertaining one way or another. I bet it would even wind up being people’s favorite match of the show.”

Do you think Stephanie McMahon should give a chance to WWE Divas like AJ Lee and Paige by pitting them against men?
