Google’s newest app / service Inbox is invite-only at this point. This app launched recently and people have mixed feeling on it and it definitely isn’t for everyone, but it does its job perfectly. The only question is if you need something like Inbox. I got my hands on the app recently as well and I have to say I really like it, I think that it can be really functional for someone who receives a tons of e-mail a day and has tons of appointments and what not. If you rely heavily on such things Inbox can help you group your e-mails together and it also brings forth some features that will help you navigate around and will make it easier for you to use the content your receive in a way. I don’t want to ramble too much about the app itself though, if you’re interested in checking it out you might want to read our app review by clicking here. Keep in mind that this app is really not for everyone and you have to try it out and use it for a bit in order to see if it will suit your needs, it’s an interesting concept either way.

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about the new feature Google just added to Inbox. This new feature is called “Highlights” and it basically allows companies to make important info and actionable items more noticeable in the e-mail they send your way. If a company highlights something it will be really easy to spot in the Inbox. This can really come in handy if you’re expecting an important e-mail coming your way, additional  look-at-this highlight is always welcome. To give you an example, if you’re receiving some sort of delivery details or perhaps you’re receiving some sort of bill you need to pay quickly or something. Highlight also allows Gmail, Google Now, Google Search and Maps to interact with messages on Android and iOS devices. Google has provided instructions and code for developers so that they can start taking advantage of this feature.
