CERRITOS >> Nordstrom Rack is scheduled to open at the Cerritos Best Plaza shopping center in the fall.
The 34,000-square-foot store, off the 605 Freeway and across the street from the Los Cerritos Center, is part of an overall remodeling project that was approved by the Cerritos City Council Monday night.
The project will include new exterior façades, landscaping upgrades, updated lighting and a new tenant mix.
The site contains numerous retail and restaurant tenants: Burlington Coat Factory, La-Z-Boy Furniture, Chuck E. Cheese’s, Guitar Center, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, EI Torito, Olive Garden and Peking Wok.
Earlier this month, Nordstrom Rack announced it was returning to Long Beach after closing its Pine Avenue location last year. The new Long Beach store will also open in the fall at the Marina Pacifica Mall.
Nordstrom Rack is the lower-priced version of Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc.’s chain of the namesake department stores. The company actually has more outlets open under the Nordstrom Rack banner — 167 — than that of its flagship line. There are 118 Nordstrom department stores, including in Lakewood and the Los Cerritos Center, in the United States, with one more in Canada.
