TreeHouse Foods Q2 Profit Beats Estimates - Quick Facts

TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (THS) reported that its second-quarter net income increased to $21.76 million or $0.57 per share, from $18.56 million or $0.50 per share, last year. Adjusted earnings per share was $0.84, for the quarter.

On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.83 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales increased to $627.96 million from $526.35 million, last year. Analysts expected revenue of $616.58 million for the quarter.

The company raised its full year 2014 adjusted earnings per share guidance by $0.10 to $0.15 to a range of $3.60 to $3.75, reflecting the accretion from the recently completed acquisitions of Flagstone Foods and Protenergy Natural Foods. Analysts expect the company to report fiscal 2014 earnings per share of $3.67.

Tesla Inc. has cut prices across its various models in China, after similar cuts in the United States, as the luxury electric car maker is struggling with slower demand and severe competition. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, Tesla shares were down 3.4 percent in the initial trading, at $142.05. Miami, Florida-based Infinite Herbs LLC is recalling select fresh organic basil citing potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration said. The public health alert has been issued to inform consumers about the issue, but a recall was not requested as the products are no longer available for purchase.
