A 14-year-old boy and his father both received tickets after police discovered the teen was the father's designated driver.
Officers pulled over the Chevy Impala in West Kelowna after it was seen leaving a nearby liquor store on Wednesday evening, according to Global News. Police say the teen was acting as a chauffeur for his 47-year-old intoxicated father.
The boy received a ticket for driving without a licence, and the father was ticketed for allowing his son to drive, reported Kelowna Now.
The father's name was the only one listed on the car's rental agreement, said Castanet. The car was returned to the rental company after the police stop.
In British Columbia, and in most provinces across the country, drivers must be at least 16 years of age to obtain a licence.
