New Delhi: Following recent instances of errors going on air on DD News, a two-member committee has been set up to get a "holistic" picture of what led to the occurrence of such cases.
According to officials, the panel will look into the entire sequence of events that led to the errors which led to a news presenter misreading the name of visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping as '11 Jinping'. The newsreader had inadvertently read the Chinese President's first name as the Roman numeral 'eleven'.
In another case, visuals of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were mistakenly run by the broadcaster before a news- segment dealing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US.
Further, in reports on the floods in Jammu and Kashmir, a Doordarshan correspondent was found to have used different names for 'Shankaracharya Hill' and the town of 'Anantnag'.
An official said that the committee will look at these cases from a "holistic perspective to see how these errors occurred and how to ensure that such incidents do not happen again".
The official added that with audiences now being active on social media, Doordarshan, which is the public sector broadcaster, would always be under the lens.
