Crash into Central Peoria building leaves driver unharmed but nearly 1,500 without power

PEORIA — A vehicle that crashed into a Central Peoria building just before the lunch hour Wednesday resulted in no injuries but knocked out power to hundreds.

The crash happened about 11:50 a.m. at 702 W. Gift Ave. Emergency medical personnel were deferred from the scene.

Other details of the crash were not immediately available.

Ameren Illinois reported about 2 percent of its Peoria clients without electricity after the crash. Most of the 1,497 accounts without service were in the 61604 and 61614 zip codes. As of 2:30 p.m., power had been restored.
