Loudon, TN – The Dalton State men’s golf team finished tied for fourth Monday after the first round of the two-day, 36 hole Tennessee River Rumble at Tennessee National Golf Course.
The hosts from Lincoln Memorial University are on top of the leaderboard with an 18-hole 304. Catawba College is three strokes back (307) in second. Brevard College is currently third at 309.
Dalton State and Carson-Newman are tied at 310.
They are only six stroked behind the leaders. Washburn (313) is seventh, Hillsdale College (317) is eighth, Tusculum (320) completed Monday’s Round in ninth.
Walters State Community College is 10th (325), Taylor University is 11th (327), Lincoln Memorial’s C-Team is 12th (335), Anderson (SC) is 13th (337), Findlay is 14th (341) and Lincoln Memorial (D) is 15th (347).
“Today was a grind,” said Dalton State Coach Ben Rickett. “Conditions were very difficult. We let a few shots get away from us at the end of the round, but we have a chance Tuesday. It will take a team effort.”
The Railsplitters’ Braden Galyon and Catawba’s Matt Hardman are tied for the individual lead with a 70 each.

The Roadrunner’s Austin Hughes is tied for 32nd (80), playing as an individual. Round two will be played Tuesday with a shot-gun start.
