Charlotte Hornets sell 'Buzz City' license plates

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Charlotte Hornets recently rolled out a new specialty item for fans to purchase, giving an opportunity to show their loyalty to Buzz City and the return of the team.

With the Hornets' last home game being Monday night, the team has an effort underway to gain 300+ applicants for "special Hornets branded license plates." The specialty plates will incorporate a Hornets logo and fans can order a regular or personalized plate.

The license plates are produced by the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles. The regular Hornets plates cost $10 and a personalized plate costs an additional $30. The Hornets say they accept payments in the form of checks, money orders and cash.

Checks and money orders should be made payable to Hornets Basketball, LLC, and can be send to Charlotte Hornets, Attn: Legal Affairs Dept., 333 E. Trade St. Charlotte, NC, 28202.

The Hornets say those wishing to purchase a plate will need to have a current title, registration and vehicle insurance information in the state of North Carolina. Purchasers will also need to include their vehicle identification number, driver's license number and current plate number.
