INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Actress Angelina Jolie made her first public appearance since her latest surgery at Saturday night’s Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

Jolie attended the ceremony with her daughters, Shlloh and Zahara. After she won the award for Best Villain for her lead role in “Maleficent,” she gave quite an uplifting speech.

“I want to say when I was little, like Maleficent, I was told that I was different—and I felt out of place, and too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in. And then one day I realized something, something I hope you all realize. Different is good.”

She ended her speech by saying, “cause a little trouble, it’s good for you.”

Just last week, Jolie talked in the New York Times about her decision to have preventive surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.
