Freds, A Swanky New Power Lunch Spot Atop Barney's in Beverly Hills

The former Barney Greengrass has been scrubbed away to reveal this uber-slick power lunch spot in the 90210.

Those craving the bagels and fine lox from Barney Greengrass will have to contend with something different, and a little more slick at the top of Barneys New York in Beverly Hills. Looking a bit like Wolfgang Puck's CUT, the clean, swanky new digs of Freds won't be opening until October 16, but the dark-suited agents and their laid-back clients will surely enjoy the seasonal new bites from chef Mark Straussman, who also set up Fred's outlets in Barney's Chicago and New York.

There's a Madison Avenue salad, touting imported Italian tuna and the Beverly Hills Club, using shrimp, crab, and avocado on 7-grain bread (how healthy).  Also consider the Farmer's Market flatbread, laced with mushrooms, zucchini, leeks, and spring onions, or  the raw-vegan cashew "cheese" dip, sure to be hit with those watching their waistlines. The fantastic view of the Hollywood Hills out on the terrace remains, which is usually the biggest draw for anyone looking to get the most out of their 90210 experience.
