Monday Sector Laggards: Energy, Consumer Products

In afternoon trading on Monday, Energy stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.2% loss. Within that group, Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) and Range Resources Corp (NYSE: RRC) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 3.3% and 3.3%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLE), which is down 0.1% on the day, and up 2.42% year-to-date. Transocean Ltd., meanwhile, is up 9.71% year-to-date, and Range Resources Corp is up 10.76% year-to-date. Combined, RIG and RRC make up approximately 1.4% of the underlying holdings of XLE.

The next worst performing sector is the Consumer Products sector, showing a 0.1% loss. Among large Consumer Products stocks, Keurig Green Mountain Inc (NASD: GMCR) and Mattel Inc (NASD: MAT) are the most notable, showing a loss of 4.0% and 2.5%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Consumer Products stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF (IYK), which is down 0.1% in midday trading, and up 3.59% on a year-to-date basis. Keurig Green Mountain Inc, meanwhile, is down 31.21% year-to-date, and Mattel Inc, is down 13.83% year-to-date. Combined, GMCR and MAT make up approximately 0.9% of the underlying holdings of IYK.
