Guardian Life Limited provided a much needed ‘facelift’ to the grounds of selected Fire Stations, The Jamaica Constabulary Force Traffic Headquarters and a State Care Home for its Labour Day Project – an investment of over $3M. Across the five project sites island wide were over 200 team members who loaned their support on the day, by helping with the painting and general clean-up of the facilities.

The project sites were as follows: The Jamaica Constabulary Force Traffic Headquarters; Ironshore Fire Station - Montego Bay; Ocho Rios Fire Station; Mandeville Fire Station and My Father’s House State Care Home in Reading, St. James.

The company takes its corporate social responsibility (CSR) very seriously and its Labour Day projects form an integral part of its annual CSR programme. Just recently, in April, the company staged its double “Keep it Alive” 5K night runs in Kingston and Montego Bay to raise funds for four hospitals across the island.

“We deem it a privilege to lend our support to the men and women of The Jamaica Constabulary Force and The Jamaica Fire Brigade who risk their lives on a daily basis to contribute to the safety of our nation”, said Eric Hosin, President, Guardian Life Limited.

With the national focus on children for this year’s Labour Day, Hosin also noted that My Father’s House was brought under the company’s Labour Day project umbrella as a treat to the young girls staying at the home, by brightening their surroundings with interior painting of their rooms.

The following activities were undertaken at the various project sites:

Head of the JCF Traffic Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Calvin Allen, who was on site for Labour Day expressed sincere gratitude to the Guardian Life Team for partnering with the JCF in providing a more comfortable environment for the Law Enforcers.

“I am most appreciative of Guardian Life’s generous contribution. The restorative duties tendered were essential and I can assure you that the team at Traffic Headquarters is most grateful for Guardian Life’s help. On behalf of the Commissioner of Police we thank Guardian Life for considering us for Labour Day 2015”, SSP Allen said. He added that the project really helped to lift the team spirit and brighten the space in which the police men and women operate.

Last year’s Labour Day Project had over 250 dedicated team members from Guardian Group members assisting The Jamaica Constabulary Force with the renovation of the grounds of The Police Training School, The Mandeville Police Station; St. Ann’s Bay Police Station; Mount Salem Police Station and the Montego Bay Police Station.
