Pennsylvania American Water acquires Hamiltonban Township wastewater assets

The company, based in Derry Township and a subsidiary of New Jersey-based American Water Works Co. Inc., announced it had bought the wastewater assets of the Hamiltonban Township Municipal Authority,, which serves about 150, residents and a number of commercial and industrial customers in the Fairfield area,.

The system is adjacent to the wastewater operation of Franklin Township,, a system Pennsylvania American bought in 2013,. That system serves about 800, people and another two dozen, commercial and municipal customers.

It’s the fourth, acquisition for the company this year, according to a company news release. Its only wastewater operations in the midstate are in Adams County,.

“(The acquisition) reflects the increasing growth opportunities we’re seeing in the wastewater space as more communities are seeking solutions to the financial and technical challenges of meeting tighter environmental standards,” Pennsylvania American Water President Kathy L. Pape said.

American Water Works Co. trades its stock on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker symbol AWK. It plans to announce its third-quarter earnings Wednesday after market close.
