Miley Cyrus may have put twerking on the map when she twerked her way around Robin Thicke at last year’s MTV VMA’s, but it’s Greg James who will be remembered as a twerking world record champion after taking the title from Nick Grimshaw just moments after his victory.

It was the moment of truth this morning as Nick Grimshaw stepped, or thrust, up to the challenge at 8:30am to twerk his way to victory to take home the Guinness World Record for the longest duration twerking.

But, after finishing the hour long feat and thanking his twerking teacher Brooklyn, singer Nicki Minaj and Khloe Kardashian’s ex French Montanna for “the greatest honour”, his fellow DJ Greg James revealed he had stolen the title.

Taking to Twitter Grimmy announced: "YAY I'M A WORLD RECORD HOLDER!!!! Oh no....wait....damn @gregjames and his ass."

James had been secretly twerking in the next door studio while viewers watched Grimmy via a podcast as he slapped his bottom and attempted to thrust his way to victory.

Clearly hapy with his sneaky tactics, James tweeted: "Muhuhahahaha! Revenge for the snake in the tent grimmers. Revenge was sweet. And tiring. It's 1 all. GrimmyTwerks."

Since announcing the world record attempt, Grimmy has been training his bottom for the twerking challenge with a fitness expert who has been putting him through his paces with a gruelling regime of squats.

But despite his best efforts and the GrimmyTwerks hashtag trending, his record holding title was short lived.
