EAA Invites College Students To AirVenture

EAA has created a new program for college students who want to participate in AirVenture 2015 as volunteers. EAA is working with aviation programs at Purdue University, University of North Dakota, Ohio State University and elsewhere to bring groups of students to the show, but volunteers are welcome from all schools. Students who log at least 40 volunteer hours will get free admission and camping for the week, as well as free meals during volunteer shifts and a six-month EAA membership. This year’s show takes place July 20 to 26 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Students don’t have to be aviation majors. Days and hours for volunteers are flexible, with assistance welcome in nearly every area of AirVenture operations, ranging from aviation-related activities such as parking and greeting pilots, to grounds, customer service and event operations. Volunteers also can work as photographers, videographers, editors and media assistants. “Volunteering at Oshkosh is a tradition for many people,” said Janine Diana, EAA’s vice president of people and culture. “Volunteering is an unforgettable way to experience AirVenture, see the aircraft, and meet people from around the world in an atmosphere filled with fun and discovery.” Online applications are available at EAA’s website.
