Locals earn honors at Muskingum U

NEW CONCORD – Several local students earned awards and were inducted into honor societies recently at Muskingum University.

Inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society were Daniel Barr and Leah Buck of Zanesville, Trevor Basham and Dean Granitsas of New Concord and Shalon Snyder of Frazeysburg.

Joining Lambda Sigma honor society were Jacklyn Bennett of Nashport, Allison Dickson of New Concord, Luke Larson of Norwich and Leeah Mahon of Philo.

Going into Phi Kappa Phi were Ferdinand Avila-Soto, Fernando Avila-Soto, Daniel Barr, Mallory McNabb and Janelle Milner of Zanesville; Dean Granitsas of New Concord; Cody Lake of Norwich; Paige Reiss of Nashport and Shalon Snyder of Frazeysburg.

Inducted into Pi Sigma Alpho political science honor society was Maria Stickrath of Zanesville.

Earning the Distinguished Scholar Award were Jacklyn Bennett, Kayley Bevard, Angelo Roberts, Claire Ardrey and Sarah Ardrey of Nashport; Fernando Avila-Soto, Leah Buck, David Stainbrook and Sebastian Teas of Zanesville; Allison Dickson, Dean Granitsas and Hannah McIntire of New Concord; Cody Lake and Luke Larson of Norwich; Kelly Rhodes of Somerset; Josie Vernon of Adamsville and Shalon Snyder of Frazeysburg.

From Zanesville earning special academic awards were Daniel Barr with the Dorothy D. Vellenga Award in Sociology, Leah Buck with the James L. Smith Award in Mathematics, Markie Dunn with the Carles “Mose” Morehead Award in French, Amanda James with the Vishnu Saksena Beta Beta Beta Award for Outstanding Service and Stacy Russell with the Rivingston Vocal Scholarship.

Cody Lake of Norwich received the Joe L. Dubbert Award in History. Cameron Godfrey of Dresden received the Doris Anderson Memorial Award in Humanities and Language. Katherine Reid of Mount Perry earned the Hugh Kuhn Award in Biology. Angelo Roberts of Nashport got the John Anthony Brown Scholarship in Political Science.
