Adobe Systems to shut down Chinese R&D arm

(MENAFN) Adobe Systems Inc. plans to shut down its Chinese research and development subsidiary as US technology firms face an increasingly hostile Chinese government, Oman Observer reported.

The computer software maker will maintain its China sales offices, but research and development (R&D) operations will stop by the end of December, Adobe said in a statement.

The Chinese government has ramped up probes into foreign companies operating in the country, wielding a 2008 anti-monopoly law to probe numerous firms' local practices.

"The overall climate in China against Western enterprises has been quite negative and that's one of the major reasons," said an anonymous person who refused to be identified.
