Hamden Couple Arrested After Argument, Stabbing
A verbal dispute between the two turned physical.
A Hamden couple is under arrest after a verbal dispute turned physical.
Erick Perez, 19, and Rebecca Coomes, 18, are both facing charges after on May 12, Hamden police responded to 1662 State St. on the report of a stabbing.
Officers met with Perez, who stated that he was stabbed in New Haven during a robbery attempt. New Haven Police assumed the investigation, but officers soon learned that that stabbing occurred at the State Street address.

Investigation revealed that Perez and his girlfriend, Coomes, were involved in a verbal dispute, which turned into a physical altercation. Further investigation revealed that Perez grabbed Coomes, at which time she stabbed him in the arm.
Perez had fabricated his version of events to police in an attempt to protect Coomes from arrest.

On May 19, members of the Hamden Police Department Patrol Division arrested Perez and Coomes at their residence, 1662 State St. in Hamden.
Perez was charged with threatening, filing a false report, and disorderly conduct.
Coomes was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
They were both scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on May 20.
