Flames Rip Through Vacant Home

Fire investigators are trying to figure out how a fire started in a vacant home on Waterford Road in the Arden Arcade area. Crews say the fire broke out around 3:15 a.m., and by the time they arrived flames were shooting from a bedroom.

Neighbors say the home is a spot for illegal activity.

One neighbor told FOX40 that she has called police more than a dozen times because she has seen everything from drug use to prostitution surrounding that home.

Personal Care Kits for the Needy

Molina Healthcare will be giving away 100 personal care kits to Sacramento residents in need. From 8a.m. to 10a.m. this morning, people can head to Friendship Park on C Street to receive the kits.

They will be given out on a first-come, first serve basis.

The personal care kits will include items such as band-aids, shampoo, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Garage Catches Fire

Fire investigators are also trying to figure out how a fire started in a garage in East Sacramento.

The fire started around 3 a.m. inside of a detached garage at a home on 51st and J Street.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames.

No injuries were reported.
