Fred Soucy, 83; U.S. Army Veteran; Hamilton Standard Retiree Who Enjoyed Tending the Gardens at His Enfield Home

Fred Soucy, 83, of Enfield, CT loving husband of Shirley (Thibodeau) Soucy entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Bickford Healthcare Center with his family by his side.

Fred was born March 1, 1932, in Eagle Lake, ME the son of the late Alfred and Laura (Ouellette) Soucy.

Fred proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Army he began a career with Whitney Chain in Hartford where he worked for over 30 years. He retired from Hamilton Standard in 1991 after several years. Fred was a longtime resident of Enfield and a parishioner of Holy Family Church. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed tending to his many gardens in his yard but cherished time spent with his family.

In addition to his wife Shirley to whom he was married 62 years, he is also survived by three children, Bruce Soucy and his wife, Jane of Windsor Locks, Donna Horrigan of Otis, MA and Fred Soucy and his partner, David Tedford of Middletown, CT; two beloved grandsons, Eric Soucy and his wife, Christine and Michael Soucy and his wife, Jen; three great-grandchildren, Rhea, Donald and Joshua; a brother, Donald Soucy and his wife, Nancy of Plainville, CT; a sister, Jeanette Bosse of Maine and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by two brothers, Roger and Edwin Soucy and two sisters, Rolande Collin and Loretta Tiadora.

Fred’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Bickford’s for the wonderful care he received.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family Wednesday, April 1, 2015, from 4 pm to 7 with a funeral service celebrating Fred’s life at 7 pm at at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Burial will follow in Eagle Lake Maine at the convenience of the family.
