Kroger Customers Raise More Than $192,100 in Just Two Weeks to Fight Georgia's Leading Cause of Death
ATLANTA (Feb. 16, 2015) – In only two weeks, Kroger’s Georgia customers contributed more than $192,100 to fight heart disease – the No. 1 cause of death of both men and women in Georgia, and the leading cause of death in the United States – and to support the American Heart Association (AHA) during American Heart Month.
From Feb. 1 – Feb. 14, Kroger customers purchased $1 paper “red hearts” at checkout to benefit the AHA and its mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
“Nearly 84 million American adults suffer from cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke and high blood pressure,” says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are proud of our Kroger customers and associates who continuously overwhelm us with their generosity. Their donations will support the AHA’s life-saving research programs and help thousands of Americans across the Southeast.”
