HARRISBURG (WPMT)- A 26-year-old man is facing criminal charges after Harrisburg City police said he threatened to shoot a gas station clerk and stole a soda.

Joseph James, of Harrisburg, is charged with robbery, carrying a firearm without a license and persons not to possess a firearm.

Officers responded to the Sunoco A-Plus along the 1900 block of Paxton Street in Harrisburg around 4:08 a.m. Saturday.

The clerk told police that a man, later identified as James, walked into the store and purchased an item. While the clerk was handing James his change–he became agitated, pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot the clerk.

He left the store–but came back moments later and took a soda. Before he left store he announced he was not paying for the drink.

James was arrested Friday morning in Steelton.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 6.
