Some international news has people in northwest Louisiana on high alert.

The list of service members that ISIS has targeted, includes names from the Bossier-Shreveport area.

The recently published list includes dozens of names of service members from Barksdale Air Force Base, though the Secretary of the Air Force is declining to confirm whether those listed still live in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

The Secretary of the Air Force released a statement Monday morning, saying "the Air Force Office of Special Investigations is coordinating with appropriate federal and local authorities on this matter. We have taken the appropriate steps to make sure that everyone impacted has been notified."

"As always, force protection is a primary concern. As such, we are encouraging all Airmen to ensure privacy settings on online/social media forums are adjusted to limit the amount of available personal information. As it relates to personal social media accounts, we are encouraging personnel to remove personal details such as physical addresses, email addresses and phone numbers."

The statement goes on to say that , "as always, vigilance and force protection considerations remain a priority for commanders and their personnel worldwide. A strong emphasis is always placed on ensuring the appropriate OPSEC and force protection training occurs and procedures are in place."

Ret. General Peyton Cole, who lives in Bossier City, describes the latest threat as "outrageous."

"I think it's outrageous that ISIS or anyone purporting to be affiliated with ISIS would think that an American citizen would renounce their citizenship in order to take up arms against somebody who has sworn to defend them," Cole says.

He adds that he feels the White House lacks a strategic plan to take a proactive approach to fighting ISIS.

"We have no real direction on where we're going or what we're going to do."

ISIS has hacked personal social media accounts for these airmen and now published personal contact and location information, prompting Air Force officials to warn personnel to be vigilant about what they post on social media sites.

The group is asking sympathizers inside the US to attack them and their families.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office say they're in communication with both the FBI and the Office of Special Investigations at BAFB. Sheriff Julian Whittington said in a statement that, "at this time, we do not have any information about specific threats to any Bossier Parish residents."

"We routinely work closely with OSI and will continue to work with them and other local and federal agencies to take any appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our residents as the need arises," Whittington said.

BPSO encourages residents to contact authorities to in order to report any suspicious activities.
