DES MOINES, Iowa – Police in Des Moines are investigating a bank robbery.

At 9:55 a.m. Monday morning the Des Moines Police Communications center received a report of a robbery at the Bank of the West located at 2596 Hubbell Ave.

The employees of the bank stated an adult white male entered the bank and handed a note to the bank teller demanding cash. He proceeded to flee northbound from the bank after he was given an undisclosed amount of money, according to the Des Moines Police Department.

No weapon was shown during the robbery.

The suspect is described as approximately 6’2’’ tall and in his mid 20’s. He was wearing a dark shirt underneath a beige coat with blue jeans and a ball cap. The suspect also had facial hair.

Sergeant Jason Halifax with the Des Moines Police Department said the suspect had a unique way of hiding his finger prints.

“He had tape on his fingers,” said Halifax. “It’s a bit of an unusual method. We don’t see it very often.”

Anyone with information on the location or identity of this suspect is asked to contact the Des Moines Police Department Detective Bureau at 515-283-4869 or the Polk County Crimes Stoppers anonymously at 515-223-1400 or http://polkcountycrimestoppers.org/.
