SCANA pays $169 million in property taxes in 2013

CAYCE, S.C. (AP) - The parent company of South Carolina Electric & Gas says it paid about $169 million in property taxes to South Carolina counties in 2013.

SCANA Corp. said Tuesday that 18 of the state's 46 counties received at least $1 million in taxes from the company's land holdings and power plants.

Lexington County was paid the most at $32 million. Richland County was paid nearly $31 million in property taxes, and Fairfield County, where the utility has its nuclear reactor, received almost $26 million in taxes.

SCANA paid Charleston County $14 million, Orangeburg County $12 million and Aiken County $9 million in property taxes.
