    Suspected sharp shooter of Abu Salem held

    The accused, identified as Jaan Usman Khan alias Reenu, was arrested last evening around 7:30 PM from ISBT Bus Terminal following a tip off.

    NEW DELHI: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested an alleged sharp shooter, who was associated with gangster Abu Salem and wanted in connection with several cases of fake currency, murder and extortion in Delhi and Mumbai.

    The accused, identified as Jaan Usman Khan alias Reenu, was arrested last evening around 7:30 PM from ISBT Bus Terminal following a tip off.

    A country-made pistol and three cartridges were recovered from him.

    He was earlier arrested in 2000 by the Bandra Police in Mumbai in an extortion case of Bollywood producer Anil Thadani, who is the husband of actress Raveena Tandon, police said.

    "He was living here in Tri Nagar area of Sarai Rohilla in north Delhi. He is having contacts in underworld and has been a shooter of underworld don Abu Salem. He is involved in cases of fake currency, extortion, murder in Delhi and Mumbai," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

    Salem was later arrested in this case in 2006. Usman Khan was also arrested in 2010 in Vikas Puri when he along with Vinod Pandit had fired on Hemant Birje, a big financer.
