Monday Sector Laggards: Industrial, Technology & Communications

The worst performing sector as of midday Monday is the Industrial sector, up 0.2%. Within that group, Joy Global (NYSE: JOY) and CSX (NYSE: CSX) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 2.1% and 1.8%, respectively. Among industrial ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLI), which is up 0.1% on the day, and down 0.02% year-to-date. Joy Global, meanwhile, is down 11.67% year-to-date, and CSX is up 17.22% year-to-date. Combined, JOY and CSX make up approximately 2.5% of the underlying holdings of XLI.

The next worst performing sector is the Technology & Communications sector, up 0.5%. Among large Technology & Communications stocks, International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM) and Teradata (NYSE: TDC) are the most notable, showing a loss of 7.2% and 3.3%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Technology & Communications stocks is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which is up 0.3% in midday trading, and up 7.13% on a year-to-date basis. International Business Machines, meanwhile, is down 8.26% year-to-date, and Teradata, is down 10.09% year-to-date. Combined, IBM and TDC make up approximately 4.5% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
