Drunk driving woman lets 10-year-old take the wheel

A woman in Memphis, TN, is facing multiple charges after a good Samaritan caught her allowing a child to drive when she was too drunk. Josh Staten was concerned when he spotted a car weaving erratically in and out of traffic last Thursday night, according to WREG. When he sped up to see what was going on, he saw a 10-year-old girl at the wheel, sitting in Laura Smith's lap while she reclined in the driver's seat.

Staten pulled up next to Smith's car and told her that he was calling police. Smith directed the girl to try and hit Staten's vehicle. He followed them into an AutoZone parking lot, where he managed to block the pair in. Smith doused Staten in pepper spray while he called the cops.

When police arrived they found Smith in a manic state and unable to stand on her own. She struggled with officers, but was eventually subdued and charged with drunk driving, child endangerment, reckless driving and assault for kicking a police officer.
