A maid who worked in former New England Patriots' star tight end Aaron Hernandez's home testified that she witnessed Hernandez tamper with his home security cameras according to reports. During his trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semipro football player and friend of Hernandez, the maid testified that she saw him "messing with" a camera in his basement the night after Lloyd was shot.
Glaucia Santos told the court that she saw him touching the camera, located on the ceiling, while she was cleaning a bathroom. Hernandez's attorney refuted her claim though, by presenting a layout of Hernandez's basement and saying from where Santos claimed she was, she wouldn't be able to see Hernandez touch the camera. She was unable to specify what exactly Hernandez was doing to the camera.
This news comes on the heels of the prosecution seeking to introduce an explosive new element to the case, an unrelated shooting in Miami during which Hernandez is alleged to have shot a man named Alexander Bradley in the face during an argument.
Bradley has alleged that the two argued over a bar tab at a Miami strip club, then needed to go back to the club to retrieve his cell phone. When he told Hernandez to head back he refused, which Bradley said led him to make "disrespectful comments." It was then that Hernandez allegedly shot him in the face.
The defense has cited Hernandez's friendship with Lloyd as a key reason why Hernandez would not be involved in his murder, but the defense wants to introduce the Bradley case as an example of how Hernandez has interacted with other people characterized as friends.
Prosecutor William McCauley wrote, "The defendant is by no means someone who would necessarily refrain from resorting to extreme violence, including homicidal violence, merely because the victim was a friend."
