A 12-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl are among eleven people arrested on suspicion of raping a woman described by police as “vulnerable” at her home in Liverpool.

The alleged attack on the 43-year-old woman took place on 24 September in Anfield.

Merseyside Police said detectives from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime (Unity Team) are appealing for anyway who may have information on events prior to or after the incident to come forward.

Police were contacted by paramedics after they attended the property and reported that a woman had been subjected to a sexual offence at 4.20pm on 24 September. The victim had been taken to hospital and was in a distressed state.

Eight males, aged between 12 and 16-years-old, two males aged 18 and 19-years-old and a 15-year-old girl have been arrested in connection with the alleged incident. They have all been released on bail.

Detective superintendent Tim Keelan said: "The victim has been distressed by her ordeal and is being supported by specialist officers.

"This was an appalling attack on a woman in her own home and we would urge anyone who has information, which could help us bring those responsible to justice, to come forward.

"It is possible that some of those who were in the flat on the day may have talked to people, including friends or family, about what happened and if they have we would urge them to contact us."

Anyone with information should contact the specialist Unity team on 0151 777 1382 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
