Casino operator Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD) Thursday reported a smaller loss for the third quarter, as revenues "improved slightly."
Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming's third-quarter net loss narrowed to $15.1 million or $0.14 per share from $37.3 million or $0.37 per share last year.
Adjusted earnings for the third quarter were $0.3 million or breakeven per share, compared to a loss of $8.3 million or $0.08 per share last year. On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.02 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Boyd Gaming's third-quarter revenues improved slightly to $738.8 million from $738.6 million a year ago. Analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $734.89 million for the quarter.
Chief Executive Keith Smith said, "This was a solid quarter for our operations, as we improved operating margins in every segment of our business."
Las Vegas Locals region revenues increased 1 percent t $141.2 million, while Downtown Las Vegas revenues rose 1.3 percent to $53.4 million.
