Officer in Ashland County involved in fatal crash

ASHLAND, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say a squad car from an American Indian band police department in northern Wisconsin has crashed head-one with another vehicle and killed a passenger.WDIO-TV reports the Ashland County Sheriff's Office said the Monday crash happened on U.S. 2 between Ashland and Odanah. It's unclear if the officer from the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe was on duty.The officer and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to hospitals with injuries. Their conditions are unclear.Authorities didn't release the names of the people involved Monday.
