Lear 60 Now FAA-Certified With New Raisbeck Aft Fuselage Locker

Adds 28 Cubic Feet Of Cargo Space To The Airplane

The Raisbeck Aft Fuselage Locker for the Lear 60 was fully FAA certified earlier this year and is now available for purchase and installation at all Raisbeck Authorized Dealer locations. The first Lear 60 to receive the Aft Fuselage Locker has been in full operation on trips across the U.S. and Europe since July 2014.

Owners and Operators are encouraged to come see first-hand what 28 cubic feet of additional cargo space looks like on the aircraft. The artfully streamlined design of the locker introduces drag-reduction while increasing the utility of the aircraft – a task that involved complex computational fluid dynamics (CFD) engineered by Raisbeck's design specialists. Orders of the kit, which can be purchased for under $300 thousand complete, will be taken at the show.

Development of the Aft Fuselage Locker began in June 2008, with the confirmation of technical cooperation between Raisbeck and Bombardier Learjet in Wichita, Kansas. The program involved the addition of a fire-proof shell and a fire detection system. Although it added time to the project, addressing all fire detection and fire containment regulations was an important step in ensuring the locker met the latest FAA requirements and the highest level of safety for customers.

Keith Anderson, Vice President of Engineering for Raisbeck Engineering said that he is very proud of what the Raisbeck team has accomplished during this project. "The new locker is certified to the most current amendments of the FAA regulations for cargo compartments, which means that it had to meet the latest fire detection and protection requirements. The new AFL for the Lear 60 far exceeds the original
requirements that cover the existing aircraft cargo space, only a few feet away from our locker. This is also the first large program for the Raisbeck team that has incorporated all-digital engineering design tools."

The Aft Fuselage Locker is a well-designed work of art. Streamlining of the aft fuselage to introduce drag-reduction while at the same time enclosing a net baggage volume of over 28 cubic feet involved complex computational fluid dynamics (CFD) engineered by Raisbeck's design specialists.

"All of us here are in this business for the long haul. Our driving motivation is to make unique contributions to our customers' needs, and to stay on the cutting edge of technology across a broad front" said Founder and CEO, James Raisbeck. "This program required a huge investment in time and money. But the increased technical tools and know-how in our engineering group along with the added benefits to Lear 60 owners and pilots has been well worth the investment."

Raisbeck Engineering is proud of the successful efforts to provide the very best, noncompromised system that ingenuity can bring and is excited for the long-awaited series installations.
