Pac-12, DirecTV are still at an impasse; Larry Scott banking on AT&T deal

The Pac-12 and DirecTV are just staring at each other awkwardly right now. Nothing has happened in the past few years to make either side budge from their original demands. So we're stuck at a point where all we can report is the lack of anything to report.

No, there is no new update for the Pac-12 and DirecTV. Both sides are nowhere closer.

If you want the bullet points...

• The Pac-12 is asking for the same subscriber fee for DirecTV that they have negotiated with every other cable and satellite provider that carries the network.
  
• DirecTV is asking for a lower subscriber fee, probably substantially lower.
• The Pac-12 lacks the leverage that other big conference networks like the Big Ten Network (partially owned by FOX) and SEC Network (setup costs handled by ESPN) have in negotiating deals with DirecTV.

So that's where we stand. Without DirecTV in the fold, the Pac-12 Network still remains (for the most part) a regional network with some national distribution.
