The column that can't heap enough praise on the Code Blue program in Bridgeton, and we would almost say it has taken on a life of its own, but that's not true because a lot of dedicated volunteers made it happen, and think about that once in a while.

Good evening!

Don't like the 40 mph winds predicted.

As a matter of fact, don't like anything about winter.

We told you Lyrica increases the appetite.

How about 46 pounds worth of increase in like four months?

Good for restaurants, maybe.

We were digging our grave with a spoon.

The Millville Thunderbolt Club has been supporting Millville scholastic athletes for 59 years.

Remember this just before Christmas?

Sid Leevy Jr. was a little shy Christmas Eve morning as he helped his dad carry in the two big bags at the homeless shelter part of Bethany Grace Community Church.

It happens when you're only 7 years old, but have already learned the gift of giving.

In the two bags were 221 pairs of band new socks, and also hats, gloves and scarves.

"We wanted to teach him how to help other people,'' said his grandmother, Dot Leevy, who owns a beauty shop in Aldine. "I saw a program on TV about a month ago about homeless people and they said they never have enough socks.''

We need to get in touch with young Sid Jr. because there is a national program that wants to contact him.

Can you help us, if you're a part of Shoemaker School in Woodstown?

You can't get any better than what Deerfield School is doing for shelters that need clothes.

They're collecting jeans.

They want to collect 5,000 pair under Teens for Jeans in conjunction with dosomething.org. and powered by Aeropostale in the Cumberland Mall.

They already have 1,000 donated.

All 5,000 will be turned over to Aeropostale, but they don't want to miss anybody locally who needs them.

They don't want them to be re-sold.

If not needed here, they will go to nearby areas.

Help Deerfield School help you here!

And if you need kids clothes, get over to All4Kids in the Upper Deerfield Shopping Center next to Radio Shack because they're closing their doors forever at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Owner Lisa T-Rexler is part of the Deerfield School effort.

Bring your jeans there or to Deerfield School, Starbound Gymnastics, Fulton Bank on Landis Avenue or to Aeropostale in the Cumberland Mall.

We met Tripp McGowan Saturday afternoon at All4Kids.

Little D and Chrissy McGowan, formerly of Country Rose restaurant in Dutch Neck Village, brought in their young son to grab the toys of his choice.

Little D works at Salem Alternative School.

And loves it.

Can you imagine that?

He's one of five teachers.

Chrissy is at Broad Street School in Bridgeton, and loves her kids.

Dutch Neck Village is a ghost town.

The Off Broad Street Players' (OBSP) upcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Carousel'' will directly aid victims of domestic violence through OBSP's partnership with the Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV) program of the Center for Family Services, the domestic violence service provider for Cumberland and Gloucester County.

A portion of each regular-priced ticket sold for performances of "Carousel'' will be donated to SERV to further the program's support of victims of domestic violence.

The non-profit program offers confidential and free 24/7 services 365 days a year, including counseling, education, and outreach.

SERV also provides personnel to accompany victims to hospitals, police departments, and court appointments, as well as emergency safe housing for victims of domestic violence.

"Carousel'' opens Friday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Millville's historic Levoy Theatre and runs through Sunday, Feb. 15.

MY KIND OF TOWN: Where SERV is another great organization that deserves out support.
