Tyson Fresh Meats Inc. is planning a $47 million expansion of its existing beef processing plant in central Nebraska.Officials from the Tyson Foods Inc. subsidy announced the plan on Tuesday. The plan will involve construction of an additional warehouse at the company's Lexington location. Officials said the development isn't expected to add new jobs at the plant.Construction is slated to begin this spring, with completion in mid-2016.Steve Stouffer, president of Tyson Fresh Meats, said the project is meant to improve the capacity of the plant's boxed beef storage and distribution systems. He said the expansion is crucial for continued operational success.Tyson Fresh Meats is the beef and pork unit of Tyson Foods Inc., employing nearly 9,000 people at its four Nebraska facilities.
