ESL Investments Further Decreases Stake In AutoNation, Inc. (AN)

Edward Lampert and his fund, ESL Investments, have further decreased their exposure to AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE:AN). According to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, 560,839 shares were disposed of, leaving Lampert and ESL with approximately 28.4 million shares.

Murray Stahl, the manager of Horizon Asset Management, has also chosen to trim his fund’s exposure to AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE:AN). In its latest 13F filing, Horizon Asset Management has disclosed ownership of 4.97 million shares, down 12% during the first quarter of 2014. Stephen Mandel, on the other hand, has only recently initiated a position for his fund. During Q1 of this year, Mandel and Lone Pine Capital have built a position that amasses 3.99 million shares. Daniel S. Och is also optimistic about the prospects of AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE:AN) and has increased his fund’s holding of the stock by 19% during the same period of time. As a result, Oz Management reportedly holds 3.07 million shares.
